Does a dealership need to ask for consent to process personal data in an online chat?
Many clients ask if explicit consent or an extra opt-in is required to process a visitor's personal data they've shared with a dealership during a chat.
Providing you only use the data for processing the visitor's specific request, then the answer is no, you don't need to ask for consent.
For example, if a person requests a test drive in the chat and you will be processing their personal data to arrange a test drive and nothing else, you don't need to ask for any additional consent. Importantly, you cannot use that data for marketing purposes unless you ask for explicit consent for that purpose.
Also, you can also add a disclaimer link in the widget (here's how to add a disclaimer)
