The Sign of Life bot will jump into a live chat if no-one is able to respond to the visitor within 15 seconds

How does the Sign of Life bot help? 

Whenever a visitor initiates a chat and there's no-one available to accept it immediately, that's when the Sign of Life bot jumps in to manage the visitor's expectations.

The bot will first recognize and inform your chat visitor after 15 seconds if there's someone online but is a little delayed in answering:

Activating your Sign Of Life bot

You can enable or disable your bot from within the Automated Messaging Platform. The bot is activated by default upon registration.

If it isn't activated, use the cog icon in the navigation on the left side to select your organisation, then go to Chatbots > Bot store and find the Sign of Life bot in the store. Simply click the 'Hire' button to enable the Sign of Life bot and follow the on-screen instructions.

Changing the name of your Sign of Life bot

Given that the Sign of Life bot's name appears in the chat when triggered, you may choose to rename it to something else, such as 'Assistant' or the name of your company.  This is easy to do.

Start by  going to Chatbots > My bots. Click on the Sign of Life icon to view the configuration window, where you can easily edit the bot name. Click save, and you're done.

To disable the Sign of Life bot, you can either switch the Enabled slider to the off position, or delete it completely by pressing the delete icon in the Actions column. You can always re-enable the bot later if you wish.

Sign of Life Bot Options

You can change some of the bot settings, such as the number of seconds before the bot shows a message, or to customise the messages themselves. Go to Chatbots > My bots. Click on the Sign of Life icon and then the Config form tab in the configuration window.

Timeout (seconds) 15 seconds The number of seconds of agent inactivity before a message is shown. Be aware, there is a maximum timeout of 250 seconds. 
Reset After (minutes) 15 minutes Reset the state of the Sign of Life bot, making it start over for returning visitors.
Agent not online (message)   Message by default: "At this moment, there is no employee available. Please try again later"
Agents not responding (message)   Message by default: "Please hold on, {agentName} will be with you shortly"

 

Example ruleset 1

No rules configured, just enabled the Sign of Life bot

  • After 15 seconds, if agents are available, but not responding, the Sign of Life Bot will say the default message - based on the language of the organization (see table above)
  • After 15 seconds, if agents are not online, the Sign of Life bot will say the default message (see table above) - based on the language of the organization

Example ruleset 2

Timeout = 20
Agents not responding = Agent {agentName} will be right there…

After 20 seconds, if no agent is responding, but there are agents online and the language of the organization of the chat is English, the Sign of Life Bot will say the above message.

Example ruleset 3

Timeout = 10
Agents not online = Sorry, nobody is available, try again later…

After 10 seconds, if no agents are online, the Sign of Life bot will say the above message.
